Christine Littlejohn officially assumed command of the 99th Air Base Wing at Nellis Air Force Base on Friday, becoming the first woman to lead the wing. 
Littlejohn oversees two groups and 13 squadrons responsible for installation support at Nellis, which serves more than 11,000 active service members. 
She joined the Air Force in 2003 after graduating from the Reserve Officer Training Corps program at Oral Roberts University in Oklahoma. 
Activated in October 1995, the 99th Air Base Wing is the host wing for Nellis and provides installation support, security and infrastructure management for the base. 
Nellis officials did not comment further about Littlejohn’s role, but provided a list of the 16 other officers who have commanded the wing, all of whom were men. 
Littlejohn has served as an airfield operations officer at multiple Air Force major air commands, working at the wing and headquarters levels. 
Throughout her career, Littlejohn has fulfilled numerous combat deployments in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom and Inherent Resolve. 
She boasts a decorated military career and has earned a Legion of Merit and an Air Force Commendation Medal with two oak clusters, among other honors. 
Littlejohn was promoted to the position of colonel in September 2023. 
She previously served as the commander of the 502d Installation Support Group at Joint Base San Antonio, Texas. 
Littlejohn replaced Col. 
Jason Glynn, who assumed command of the wing in July 2024. 
A social media post from the U.S. 
Air Force Warfare Center credited Glynn with advancing installation resilience and enhancing operational readiness.
