Taylor Swift opts against bridesmaids as she and Travis Kelce instead tap their brothers as best man and 'man of honor'
Taylor Swift is no stranger to having high-profile female friendships, but the queen of the "squad" kept it simple for her wedding day.
People reports that Swift and new husband Travis Kelce opted against having a wedding party for their July 3 ceremony at Madison Square Garden.
Instead, Kelce tapped older brother Jason Kelce as his best man, while Swift enlisted younger brother Austin Swift as her "man of honor."
The couple also leaned on Kelce's Happy Gilmore 2 costar Adam Sandler to officiate the star-studded ceremony.
That said, there was no shortage of close friends in attendance.
A who's who of NFL stars — including George Kittle, Matthew Stafford and several of Kelce's Kansas City Chiefs teammates — were seen making their way to Madison Square Garden.
On Swift's side, gal pals including Alana, Este and Danielle Haim; Zoe Kravitz; Gigi Hadid; Selena Gomez; Lena Dunham; Dakota Johnson; Karlie Kloss; and longtime bestie Abigail Anderson joined the wedding festivities.
Because Swift has been known to keep famous, female company, there had been lots of speculation about who might make the bridal party cut (which is perhaps why she made it a moot point by not having one in the first place).
The "Cruel Summer" pop star's girl gang first gained attention in 2014, around the release of her critically acclaimed fifth studio album 1989, when she was spotted around New York City with Victoria's Secret models Karlie Kloss and Gigi Hadid.
She solidified her then-core squad with the release of her star-studded music video for "Bad Blood" in 2015, which featured an elite lineup of A-listers and "it" girls in their respective fields, including Lena Dunham, Hailee Steinfeld, Martha Hunt, Ellie Goulding, Zendaya, Hayley Williams, Lily Aldridge, Jessica Alba, Mariska Hargitay, Ellen Pompeo and Cindy Crawford.
Swift's longtime bestie Selena Gomez also appeared in the video.
(Fun fact: Swift also famously attended Gomez's wedding to music producer Benny Blanco last year.
Aw!)
More recently, her crew has included Zoe Kravitz and Haim sisters Danielle, Alana and Este.
Haim, who also opened for Swift during the U.S. leg of her Eras Tour, recently attended the New York Knicks game with her, where they stepped out in their punny, now-viral tees.
Prior to their rumored falling out, Blake Lively had also been a frequent plus-one.
While it's somewhat unexpected that Swift has bucked the bridesmaid trend, it's little surprise that she's given her younger brother Austin a role in her wedding.
As Cosmopolitan reports, the siblings have a tight-knit relationship.
Swift has shouted out Austin in song lyrics, and has credited him with helping her buy back her masters.
As for the groom, having older brother and New Heights cohost Jason as best man must have been a no-brainer — and a chance to return the favor.
Travis was Jason's best man when he wed wife Kylie Kelce in 2018.
