Coming in 2027: St.
Petersburg Rock City.
Gene Simmons, the tongue-wagging bassist and iconic lead gargoyle of pioneering arena rockers Kiss, is bringing his eponymous solo band to Ferg’s Pavilion in St.
Petersburg on Jan.
30.
Yes, that’s right: Ferg’s.
The sports bar and concert stage a hop and a skip from Tropicana Field.
It’ll be Simmons’ first solo-ish show in Tampa Bay since Kiss brought their farewell tour to the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in 2021  a show that was actually Kiss’ second farewell stop in Tampa, following another in 2019.
And if you’re worried that the Gene Simmons Band is one of those “focus on the new stuff” type of side projects, fear not, because for all his entrepreneurial excess, Simmons is nothing if not a crowd pleaser.
Recent setlists, including one at Wisconsin’s massive Summerfest festival, are loaded with Kiss hits like “Shout It Out Loud,” “Deuce,” “Calling Dr.
Love” and, of course, “Rock and Roll All Nite.”
Ferg’s is no stranger to hosting bigger acts, particularly those of a certain vintage.
Artists with upcoming shows there include Warrant, Dokken, Lou Gramm, Vanilla Ice and Twisted Sister featuring Sebastian Bach.
Joining the Gene Simmons Band for this show, in fact, is Lita “Kiss Me Deadly” Ford, a veritable rock hero in her own right.
Even so, booking a gajillionaire Hall of Famer like Simmons is clearly on another level.
“This is a huge night for Ferg’s Pavilion,” Ferg’s owner Mark Ferguson said in a statement.
“Gene Simmons is not only a founding member of KISS, one of the biggest and most recognizable rock bands of all time, he is one of the most recognizable figures in the history of music and entertainment.
To have Gene Simmons Band and Lita Ford together at Ferg’s is exactly the kind of special, high-energy, generational concert experience we want to bring to Tampa Bay as we continue building Ferg’s Pavilion into a home for major live music across all music genres.”
