CASPER, Wyo. — The Center Street railroad underpass will temporarily close beginning Monday, Aug. 10 to allow for the repair and rehabilitation of the local storm sewer system.
According to a Friday release from city officials, the closure is expected to last from one to three weeks.
Public Services Director Krista Johnston said the rehabilitation project will aim to address damage to storm sewer catch basins that have become obstructed by sand, litter and various other debris.
She added that the drainage system is currently operating at approximately just 20% of its total capacity, a deficiency that has resulted in localized flooding.
During the closure, crews will repair the catch basins and clean the pipes.
The infrastructure will also undergo a full inspection, with further repairs to be conducted as required.
Johnston said Poplar Street or Beverly Street are suggested as the primary detours for motorists.
