Not too long ago, DSA Democrats in Los Angeles were handing out ' free' taco carts to illegal aliens running sidewalk vending businesses.
Supposedly, their 280 carts are sanitary, but that's in a sea of unregulated ones that are also out there.
In any case, I have my doubts that the city-supplied ones are clean after reading about the permit process, which said mere ' priority ' would be given applicants who had primary and supplementary paperwork.
There's a little wiggle room there.
It was a slap in the face at the battered, overtaxed, legal, restaurants who are undermined by the illegal vendors who are often at their front doors, often fighting and taking away business.
Los Angeles City Council member Eunisses Hernandez , who has never missed a meal, was front and center in the effort.
But that didn't stop Democrat gubernatorial candidate for governor, Xavier Becerra, who came out in favor of eating off these illegal carts:
If you're in California and want a street taco, I have one piece of advice:
Look for the little street cart.
That's where you'll find the real thing. 🌮 pic.twitter.com/KQMryhjSaH

Why should anyone be eating off an unregulated, and likely unsanitary. taco or cut-fruit-on-a-stick cart?
Is Montezuma's revenge Becerra's idea of the authentic, 'real thing' experience?
For many turistas, it is, but why is Becerra so interested in importing it here?
Don't legitimate Mexican restaurants in Los Angeles, run by mom-and-pop legal immigrants know how to create 'the real thing' too?
What an insult to legitimate restaurants which labor under ominous regulations, massive taxes, huge labor costs and illegal competition.
Seems Becerra is probably returning a favor to the likes of Hernandez and her favored NGOs who operate this questionable program.
But even with free food carts being handed out, illegal food carts remain pervasive, and lack of basic regulation means anything goes as far as food safety and sanitation practices.
According to the California Post :
Locals are furious after the park under the Hollywood Sign allegedly sees fruit vendors defecate and urinate before serving food.
Exclusive photos obtained by The California Post appear to show unpermitted sellers using the bushes at Lake Hollywood Park before returning to slice and sell products to customers.
The images were provided by outraged residents who say they have spent years documenting vendors relieving themselves in the park, dumping wastewater into the street and leaving behind piles of trash while city officials have repeatedly failed to stop the growing operation.
"It's disgusting," longtime resident Cindy Cobb told The Post.
They, too, are rock-ribbed part of the illegal food cart scene in Los Angeles and San Diego, reportedly controlled by Mexican cartels.
They are here illegally, they are practicing sanitation seen in their own country, and they are undercutting legal immigrants and native-born Americans who follow the rules.
Yet here Becerra is, out championing them, as if he's campaigning to win the illegal-immigrant vote.
Who is he planning to represent in this race?
Is he taking orders from cartel masters to promote these food carts as ' autentico ' over legitimate Mexican restaurants?
It seems something fishy is going on.
