Lawyer Steve Pajcic continues to invest heavily into the effort to elect Democrat Moné Holder to fill an at-large Jacksonville City Council seat currently held by Republican Terrance Freeman , loaning the Jacksonville Together political committee another $100,000.
That brings the total he’s loaned the committee to $300,000 this cycle, though $275,000 has already been spent, largely on television ads for the chief advocacy and political officer at Florida Rising .
Between the supportive political committee and nearly $42,000 in campaign account fundraising, Holder leads the three-woman field in the at-large City Council Special Election, which can be won outright on the Aug.
18 Primary ballot if one candidate takes more than half the vote.
Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Commander Deborah Wesley is running as a Republican with nearly $94,000 in hard money and more than $27,000 in the supportive Building a Stronger Jacksonville political committee.
However, GOP donors aren’t matching Pajcic’s investment in the race, and Wesley has less than $100,000 to spend, meaning that unless someone ponies up quickly, she won’t have the television exposure Holder does.
Libertarian Addison Patrick has raised a little more than $5,600 and has spent most of it.
Her presence on the ballot could make it difficult for either major party candidate to get a majority this month.
If no one does, the top two finishers move to the November General Election, with the winner forced to defend her seat in the 2027 election cycle.
Republicans currently hold a 14-5 advantage on the City Council.
