DESSERT N SPICE
The downtown Berkeley dessert shop closed its doors.
Dessert N Spice served cookies, baklavas, cakes, Dubai chocolate strawberries, and more.
According to a sign on its window, they will be moving into Dera Cafe in Berkeley.
Berkeley Bagels will be opening a second location in this space in a few weeks.

LOUNGE CHINATOWN
Lounge Chinatown seems to have closed some time in 2025.
The Taiwanese and Chinese street food restaurant opened in Oakland Chinatown in January 2023, serving some of the best stinky tofu, minced pork over rice (lu rou fan), and beef noodle soup in this area, where Taiwanese food is hard to find.
Nosh reported earlier this week that a new Taishanese restaurant, New King Kitchen, is opening soon in Lounge Chinatown’s former location.

PA’S PAPA
This Japanese restaurant in Oakland’s Laurel district opened a little over a year ago in June 2025, and has closed.
A new restaurant named Itsumo is opening in its place.

PUCQUIO
The Rockridge Peruvian restaurant announced on Instagram that its last day is Friday, July 31.
The restaurant offered modern, seasonal dishes that stood out among the sea of Rockridge restaurants, garnering praise from San Francisco Chronicle food critic Cesar Hernandez: “this electrifying Peruvian restaurant might be the most underrated spot in Oakland’s Rockridge.”
